Urban climate - an interactive knowledge tour

"The climate" - we hear and read about it every day. Our thoughts quickly turn to heat, water and weather in general. These are of course important issues for a city, its inhabitants and its guests. But isn't "climate" more complex than that? It is also about life in a city, the public space, the social climate.
The interactive knowledge tour takes us to places in Regensburg's old town, some of which we know very well, and to places that we often simply walk past. We look at their history, explore what we learn here about different facets of "climate", how the city and people (can) deal with it and what experts say about it.
Especially in an urban space like Regensburg, where so much of the original building fabric has been preserved, it is worth taking a look to see whether we can learn something today from the historic buildings and decisions made back then.
Participants in the guided tour are allowed to join in and think. The tours are suitable for adults and families with children aged 10 and over.

Science Location Regensburg - History and Present

In Regensburg, the university, founded in 1967, is a very new institution. Nevertheless, as a location of science, with research and teaching alike, the city has a long and rich tradition. Whether in medieval monasteries or in learned associations of the Age of Enlightenment, whether in the environment of the Jewish Talmud school or at the court of the princes of Thurn and Taxis: science in all possible branches has always been at home here.

"Regensburg is beautifully situated..." - A literary walk

"Regensburg is beautifully situated. This area had to attract a city." Just as the city captivated Goethe, a traveler to Italy, in 1786, it has also fascinated many other literary figures throughout history. Be it because they visited here, be it because they were born, grew up or lived here. Throughout the centuries, poets have recorded the changes as well as the timeless features of one of the oldest cities in Germany and its inhabitants in their works. On our walk we will track down traces of literary history(s) and learn how the Old Town Hall came to be in the "Magic Mountain", what one of the oldest city sagas in Germany is about, how the snuff factory came to be in the work of a contemporary author, what Karl May has to do with a local publishing house and much more.
