Stadtamhof

"During the time of Stadtamhof's independence, the saying went, "Over the Bruck (Stone Bridge), you don't get married. This was true on both sides of the Danube. People here were proud to be independent of Regensburg. This can also be seen in the building that was once the town hall: Stadtamhof's coat of arms has three Petrus keys and not just two like Regensburg. One more - that was important.  The town was Bavarian, Regensburg a Free Imperial City.

Stadtamhof was part of Regensburg from 1409 to 1486, when it was pledged to the city. The small Regensburg district lies on an island between the arms of the Danube and, together with the old town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Even today, the clocks in Stadtamhof go differently. The residents enjoy their location on the banks of the Danube in the immediate vicinity of the city.

Everywhere you can find picturesque corners and idyllic backyards. Stadtamhof can impress with sights such as the rococo church and monastery complex of St. Mang and the hospital church of St. Katharina. Also worth seeing is the Andreasstadl, once the Salzstadl, now a hotel, restaurant, café, art academy and cinema. The idyllic Grieser Spitz at the end of the island is especially popular with young people. Concerts or knights' spectacles take place here in summer. Alone the way there along the Danube bank is worth a walk. And one of the city's most beautiful beer gardens is located in Stadtamhof. Cheers!
